Gingerbread Parade - Volunteer Baker Spotlight: Frances Sellers

In her own words:

My mother instilled in me a love for baking....my first cake on my own was for Grandmother; she loved yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

My favorite thing to bake is birthday cakes for children; I love to watch their little faces light up.

I decided to get involved with this year to help the Children's Museum; our children are our future and anything that can help to ensure they grow up with creative minds and imaginations is a great cause.
I have been doing Gingerbread displays for the Jubilee of Trees for the past 5 years; my two granddaughters Ayden Hansen and Mandi Waddell have helped with them. It is a great learning experience for them and teaches them to give without getting something back. Here is a pic of the two girls with last year's display: it is simply called: "Christmas on the Cape."

Frances together with her granddaughters will again bake and decorate their gingerbread house to be displayed at Reclaimed - number 7 on the tour map, located on St George Blvd. In a recent Instagram post, we learn that Reclaimed has completed a most beautiful red dresser which will be used to display the gingerbread creation. It will be fabulous!

The Gingerbread Parade runs December 2-14th. Visit each location during the tour to vote for your favorites and be entered to win prizes during our Fundraiser event on the afternoon of the 14th at Ancestor Square 1:00-4:00 PM. Then, all gingerbread creations will be available for purchase via silent auction at this Holiday Market sponsored by Downtown Farmers Market. Proceeds will benefit the St George Children's Museum.
