Graduation: 4 years of Gingerbread Parade

Image
For the last four years I have organized the St George Gingerbread House Parade. And this year, I declare that I have graduated from it. Yippee! I will from here on out be supporting the Jubilee of Trees.  This year I plan to make one Christmas Wreath and one Gingerbread House for charity to raise funds for St George Regional Hospital. I totally get it that a lot of people think that the hospital doesn't need our charity because they got money and we lowly people don't. But, let's try to reason why it's good for the community. Because of the philanthropy of the community, it benefits us. The hospital can expand and bring needed services to the area keeping the costs down for us. You can read more about that here: Foundation/Jubilee of Trees. So, what I am doing is shutting down the nonprofit status of St George Gingerbread House Parade and any remaining funds in the business account will be distributed to a nonprofit in the area as per the rules of the Articles of Inc

Financial Reports have been updated

I want you to know that when you donate to help this small organization - just how I use the funds is outlined every year. We kept it a bit smaller in 2022 - but still managed to pull off a fun community event. It was great that we partnered with Downtown Farmers Market and then later with MoFACo- the Modern Farm and Artisan Co-op. We were able to do a free community showcase during the last Farmers Market of the season at Vernon Worthen Park. And then during the week just before and after Christmas, MoFACo at 55 N Main Street in St George hosted the gingerbread contest. The winner was Amber Empey of St George. She submitted 4 gingerbread creations and all of them were awesome. We had over 250 visitors come in and vote. Thank you community for coming out to support this annual event. We plan to partner with them again in 2023 and als

Yesterday, December 17, we celebrated the community showcase of the St George Gingerbread Parade. Lots of photos and videos shared on our Instagram. <---  Go there to check it out. In the meantime, the party continues with a Contest at MoFACo on Main Street. Those that wanted to participate have moved their gingerbread creations to the back of the Modern Farm and Artisan Co-op or MoFACo located at 55 N. Main Street, St George, UT. The gingerbread houses will remain until very early January. Winners will be announced January 6! For those of you that are interested, vote for your favorites. Terms: vote up to once per day until January 5th during hours of operation. And then MoFACo will do drawings of eligible voters so you can win prizes sponsored by Menchies Frozen Yogurt of St George. Yum.

2022 St George Gingerbread House Parade

Show off your uniquely made gingerbread creation at this year's Homemade for the Holidays Market! About this event I am here to announce that the 2022 St George Gingerbread House Parade will again happen this year. Last year’s event was a great success. I heard feedback from businesses and participants that really enjoyed it, loved going to new businesses to support them and trying out their food, buying a product, or trying their service; and look forward to it again this year. Our community really does like to support local small businesses and so do I. :-) However, due to lack of funding we are changing up how we do the event. It will not be a fundraiser at the expense of small businesses. And many families with small children have asked that the Gingerbread Houses be in one place to see them. So we are giving them what they want.  I am partnered with the Downtown Farmers Market and the display of uniquely made gingerbread houses will be located for one day only at the Home

2021 - Spotlight on St George Children's Museum

Main Street, St George Hours: M, W, Th, F, Sat - 10:00-5:00,  Closed Tuesday and Sunday.  So, if you have read the Origins story of the Gingerbread Parade, or if you have just been living around St George for a while, you know that the St George Children's Museum used to organize the St George Gingerbread Tour. That's how I came to find out about the event. Well, the reason they did the event was to fundraise for the museum. They had volunteer bakers make these incredible gingerbread houses and then businesses up and down Main Street and right downtown St George would host them, and then they would all go back to the museum for an auction.  The problem was, after doing this event for several years, they found that it just cost them more than they bought in. So, in 2019, they decided not to do it again.  But in 2018, when I participated as a bidder, and won my very first - really freak
