This is their third time participating. I love their creativity. The current gingerbread house which is on display now - smells amazing. It's covered in chocolate. Don't worry, it's up high so the kiddos don't eat it all. The St George Gingerbread Parade will run for two weeks. Come in and see each one and collect a stamp on your map. If you don't have a map, it's okay because each location has extra copies to give out. The first 50 people to turn in their completed stamped maps to me at the Children's Museum booth at the Homemade for the Holidays market, Dec 11, 1:00-4:00 PM  (Atwood Innovation Plaza at DSU) will rece

If you remember in 2019, she made the most excellent Toothy themed gingerbread house that was then at Premier Dental. I still have the little gingerbread man cookie - I've saved it all this time. Do you want to see a picture of it? Of course, you do! He had a little sign that read, All I want for Xmas are my 2 front teeth. I first met Erica when I lived downtown and we were in the same neighborhood. She was just known as the cake lady to me back then. Yes, she made the most excellent cakes. I was at a cake auction once for the youth programs and there was this cake - it was incredible. It was chocolate and peanut butter. I really wanted it. Someone else won it. But, luckily that someone else shared with me. It's the best cake ever. I later ordered one for my birthday that year. Y

2021 - Spotlight on Dinosaur Discovery Site

In the bathroom at the museum! St George Dinosaur Discovery Site Stop #12 on Gingerbread Parade Route 2180 E Riverside Drive, St George Hours: Thursday - Monday 10:00-5:00 This is the third year in which the Dinosaur Discovery Site has participated in the Gingerbread Parade. We thank you. We love the Dinosaur Museum. Mikah Harrison is the volunteer baker that will have her gingerbread creation here. You can read about her on the blog as well.  This is a great place to visit and bring friends and family. Explore and discover in the comfortable indoor facility where you will find an Early Jurassic ecosystem complete with dinosaurs, fishes, plants and more.  And, as a gift giver, I love the gift shop as well. Museums often seem to have the best gift shops. This one is no different. Is your child a dinosaur lover? This is a great place to pick out some gifts for that loved one. And is a good way to support the museum, even if you have been in again and again. I've selected some cool th

But she has a team ready to help her: husband and two darling daughters will all make it happen. Thank you for volunteering. I appreciate ya'll.  They chose to do theirs for Dixie Rock & Fossils because like me, they like rocks. And we rock people gotta stick together.  Kayla is no stranger to creativity though, she's got a sweet  business called Dixie Wreath Company where she makes the most adorable wreaths.  And she loves to bake. Her favorite thing to bake: everything! 😄 Kayla loves St George because the sunshine makes her so happy. Be sure and follow her Instagram and go check out her gem and rock covered gingerbread creation at Dixie Rocks & Fossils.  Pick up your parade map at the Kickoff to Christmas, Monday November 29th, 6:00-8:00 PM. Then you have two weeks

2021 - Spotlight on The Sugar Cookie

Photo courtesy The Sugar Cookie Instagram The Sugar Cookie Stop #16 on Gingerbread Parade Route 180 South River Rd St George, UT 84790 Hours: M-Th 10:00-8:00 PM; Fri-Sat 10:00-9:00 PM Closed Sundays The Sugar Cookie is excited to be apart of the Gingerbread Parade this year, and I'm excited to share this wonderful little bakery with you all.  I have been a fan of this bakery for sometime now. Everyone in my family has their favorite cookie. For me, it's a toss up between the chocolate cookie with peanut butter frosting and the lemon cookies.  My kids really love the mini lemon and orange cookies. The frosting is so tasty without it being overly sweet. If I could pinpoint it, I'd guess there is some cream cheese in the frosting. It's so delightful.  The shop is tucked away on River Rd, just behind some popular eateries, and it is so worth a stop in. They also have frequent buyer cards which I always have in my wallet. The cool thing about inviting a business to participa

2021 - Spotlight on Volunteer Baker, Kris Archer

And then she had started her own business and has agreed again to take part of the Gingerbread Parade.  Kris is a real entrepreneur with many big ideas.  From her bio: Bougie Balloons was founded in 2020 in St. George, Utah by Kris Archer, who has been involved in Event Planning in Marketing since 2014. Kris feels like celebrating life’s big milestones is one of the best things to spend time and effort on, so this was a perfect thing for her and her family!   Kris moved to St. George in December of 2019 after living in Asheville, NC. As a Utah native, Kris always knew that if they moved back to Utah it would be to the beautiful Red Cliffs of Southern Utah. Since COVID started in 2020, she missed the big event planning that she was used to

2021 - Spotlight on MoFACo

Photo courtesy MoFACo MoFACo aka Modern Farm and Artisan Co-op Stop #3 on the Gingerbread Parade route 55 N Main Street St George, UT 84770 Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 11:00-6:00; Sunday 9:30-1:00 PM Closed Mondays MoFACo Utah is also the group that runs the Downtown Farmers Market, and I am in cooperation with them for the closing event - Homemade for the Holidays, Dec 11, 1:00-4:00 PM at Atwood Innovation Plaza at DSU. Founder of MoFACo, Kat Puzey, started this co-op back in 2019 - and it's been a great asset to our downtown St George. Many local artisans and farmers sell their goods there. And 85% of the sale goes right back to the local farmer or artist. Only 15% stays with the store to help with costs. It is a non-profit and one that I can get behind.  A little confession here, I am one of the artists that sells at the MoFACo and I volunteer at the co-op twice a month to help keep it open. I make the crochet dolls, paint wooden toys, and we have crochet and felt earrings as well
