Image
Remember how I told you we are in cooperation with Fandom Entertainment to bring St George a Christmas Quest - Well, it's changed names to let everyone know - it's all December long - ends December 31st at midnight! Sign up at the link to play along. Brad Cornilles has worked hard to bring this to St George and I'm promoting it, too. I want you all to have some more Holiday fun and win cool prizes. Schools are about to let out and even though family is in town and kids are sleeping in, we still want to go do some fun stuff during the day. This is it. At only $6 to join - it's the perfect thing. Download the app and figure out the clues - they aren't too hard - and go to the checkpoints for the next clue.  If you are really struggling with a clue, message me on the Facebook or Instagram apps and I will help you! In the meantime, have fun! Sign up Here

2021 - Spotlight on St George Children's Museum

Main Street, St George Hours: M, W, Th, F, Sat - 10:00-5:00,  Closed Tuesday and Sunday.  So, if you have read the Origins story of the Gingerbread Parade, or if you have just been living around St George for a while, you know that the St George Children's Museum used to organize the St George Gingerbread Tour. That's how I came to find out about the event. Well, the reason they did the event was to fundraise for the museum. They had volunteer bakers make these incredible gingerbread houses and then businesses up and down Main Street and right downtown St George would host them, and then they would all go back to the museum for an auction.  The problem was, after doing this event for several years, they found that it just cost them more than they bought in. So, in 2019, they decided not to do it again.  But in 2018, when I participated as a bidder, and won my very first - really freak

2021 - Spotlight on Volunteer Baking Team: Redwood Family

Image
The Redwood Family reached out to me pretty late in the event planning about donating a Gingerbread Village for use in the Gingerbread Parade. It actually came just in time because my other volunteer had health issues which prevented her from helping this year and had to step down.  The Redwood Family also asked not to be praised, but I feel like I gotta do it because I couldn't do anything without the help of all these people stepping up to bring Christmas Cheer to our community. So, I asked if the family would mind putting their gingerbread creation over at The House of Jump, stop #7 on parade map, and gladly they helped. They ended up putting together a whole trampoline themed gingerbread creation complete with basketball and trampolines, little dolls and even a book! Yes a trampoline book - to encourage young ones to go home and read after moving your little bodies.  Thank you so much Redwood Family. You did wonderful. I appreciate you. The community appreciates this event...

2021 - Christmas Quest, a Selfie Scavenger Hunt

Image
The St George Gingerbread Parade is in cooperation with Fandom Entertainment to bring St George a Christmas Quest. This gamify experience is available as an app to download on your phone for $6. During your quest or hunt, you solve clues, drive around St George and can win prizes. Usually everything is free here at the Gingerbread Parade , but by teaming up with Fandom Entertainment, we can fundraise for our nonprofit with this app-game and it can support causes we care about. One cause I care about it is bringing fun and entertainment to families and friends here in St George. I'm trying to spread Christmas Cheer and this is one way to do it.  I've already started playing and it's pretty fun so far. I like it because I like games, I like puzzles and it's nice that I have been able to solve these clues. It's true that a few clues I wasn't "getting it" but after a quick google search I've been able to figure out the clues. I like it better than som

2021 - Spotlight on Menchie's Frozen Yogurt

And each design is totally different. I bet you are wondering if it's even worth it to go to each location. I will say yes. Especially if you are collecting stamps on your map. But not only that, each location is a little different. They have different froyo flavors and toppings.  So, that's right, no volunteer bakers at Menchie's - they used their own in-house cake designers to make their gingerbread creations. Because even though Menchie's has great self-serve frozen yogurt, they also provide unique designs for custom cakes! If you are wanting to do frozen yogurt cake at you

2021 - Spotlight on Volunteer Baker: Mary Shipley

Me on left, Mary on right! Mary Shipley Gingerbread house located at stop #1 on map St George Children's Museum 86 S. Main Street Hours: M, W, Th, F, Sat - 10:00-5:00,             Closed Tuesday and Sunday.  Mary Shipley is so much fun. I met her while attending a Girl Scouts Camp in Utah County. It was so much fun because the people made it fun. Cause I don't really like sleeping away from my own bed... but meeting new friendly faces is a plus. So, if you are looking to get your daughter into the Girl Scouts, it's happening all around us. And it's not just a program that sells Girl Scout Cookies - that's just a fundraiser to pay for camp and all the other fun stuff. Contact me and I will put you in touch with someone if you're interested. Or, did you know, you could even start your own troop?! We've been having more fun together lately since we both sit on the Children's Museum Board - above see us dressed up for the annual Halloween Party - it's on

2021 - Spotlight on Volunteer Baker, Chelsea Hardy

sneak peek of the Eiffel Tower    Chelsea Hardy     Gingerbread Creation at stop #8 Tifiny's Creperie     567 Valley View Drive, St George     Hours: M-Sa 10 AM - 7 PM; Closed Sundays Chelsea is a special kind of genius because she can CAD computer program really good. The thing you notice about her gingerbread creations year after year is the attention to detail and the precision and that's because she will often design her creation in a CAD program - because she can't do math but she knows interior design... and her husband is good at the mathematics! Anyway, that's why Chelsea's gingerbread creations are next level! Two years ago she did a Harry Potter castle. It was mind blowing. I stared at it a while. This year, she has done it again, with her miniature Eiffel Tower! It's absolutely stunning. So, go see it! I will leave some photos below of her past gingerbread creations. Last year was the most different because she did this more abstract Dinosaur style de

2021 - Spotlight on Tifiny's Creperie

Limited time, Pumpkin Cheesecake Crepe     Tifiny's Creperie   Stop #8 on Gingerbread Parade Map   567 Valley View Drive, St George   M-Sa 10 AM - 7PM; Closed Sunday Tifiny's Creperie is so yummy. And the thing is, even if you don't get a crepe, it's so yummy. The dining experience is casual French cafe - I will say that my favorite thing to get is still the Turkey Sandwich on Ciabatta with the Cranberry Mayo. MMMM yum 😋 My husband and I share the sandwich and then we each get our favorite dessert crepe (and that we don't share 😄) Recently Tifiny's Creperie has redone the dining room and now there are booths! So even a large family can sit comfortably in a booth - all together! It's very cozy.  Don't forget to visit their tiny corner shoppe and see all the vintage sweets! In summer they even have gelato.  The Gingerbread Creation on display now is a big Eiffel Tower replica - and it's gorgeous! It's made by volunteer baker and Dulcet Cake Co. o

2021 - Spotlight on Fabulous Freddy's Car Wash

Image
Image courtesy Instagram FabFreddys   Fabulous Freddy's Car Wash & Convenience Store   Stop #15 on the Gingerbread Parade Map   134 S River Road, St George   Hours: M-Sa 8 AM - 7PM; Su 9 AM-5 PM   I had been trying to get Fab Freddy's to join the Gingerbread House Parade for a few years now. I guess I wasn't contacting the right person, because this year, they reached out to me. Whoo hooo. I have always been a fan of Fab Freddy's because I'm sort of lazy when it comes to vacuuming my car out. I'm not lazy when it comes to organizing this event, writing blog posts, or baking. But if it's cleaning related, I'm not a fan. Except for dishes, I like that chore, oddly.  Anyway, I'm grateful that there are many carwashes around St George, because we live in this hot desert and water is a commodity, I'm grateful that these car washes recycle the water and they are good to have around. And you can save a little money doing it yourself, but if you are

2021 - Spotlight on Forever Young Fine Jewelers

In fact, the origins of this St George holiday tradition did begin in the same location, also a jewelry store, but it was then McArthur Jewelers - and says so on the building. The late Jeremy Young had worked at McArthur's from 2012-2016 when they closed. Then he and his wife Megan opened Forever Young Fine Jewelers. Since Jeremy has passed away,  his wife Megan still owns and operates the store.     Megan Young has been a supporter of the Gingerbread tour ever since. Forever Young Fine Jewelers is a staple in our community and supports many causes. Now as far as jewelry goes, they got it! And they don't just have incredibly beautiful engagement and wedding
