Gingerbread Parade - Participating Businesses Spotlight: Art and Soul Gallery & Gift/Print It, and Wide Angle Photography

Artwork Copyright: Anita Wotkyns
Did you know that the owner of Art and Soul Gallery & Gift (located at 55 N Main) is the same person that helps run the St George Children's Museum? This amazing person in our community gives and gives! Anita Wotkyns is the woman behind it all. The back of the gallery houses Print It - but the front of this little shop is Anita's contribution. She actually put it together as part of a college project. Her work is also found here and a small sample is available for purchase. Her style is whimsical rustic - which happens to be one of my favorite genres in art - I love her simple illustrations that are perfect for any baby nursery or child's bedroom. If any local artists out there are looking for a place to display their art - this is a great location that gets lots of tourist foot traffic. Come on in and check out the gallery for a perfect one-of-a-kind gift and artists may contact Anita for more information.

Her husband, Nathan Wotkyns started Print It - at 55 North Main Street.  Print It specializes in Giclee/Fine Art and high-quality photo printing. Print It also offer services for art reproduction, photo restoration, canvas gallery wraps, and a wide variety of archival papers to choose from. And it's a great value for artists in our community to take advantage of the great prices and home care that you cannot get online.

I am always a little enamored when I hear the story of a self-made business person. So, here is this one told to me by Anita. Her husband Nathan wasn't sure what to do after high school. But he decided to just go for it and become a photographer. He is mostly all self-taught. He has a shop of his work next door at Wide Angle Photography - and in the meantime, he runs Print It. He taught himself everything he knows. And I am just in awe. I am 40 years old, and it has taken me years to have the confidence to even, set up this nonprofit and organize this community event, and the fact that a guy straight out of high school had the drive to start his own business and be good and it and make it work - it just tickles me pink! Nathan Wotkyns is a friendly guy. Go check out his work and talk to him. But he is modest. He doesn't do any marketing, has a website or anything like that. He once heard the saying: location, location, location. So, he has a great location for Wide Angle Photography - plus incredibly good photography and that's what sells.

The gingerbread parade begins December 2nd - runs through December 14th. At Ancestor Square on December 14th from 1:00-4:00 PM join us at the Holiday Market - co-hosted by Downtown Farmers' Market where we will silent auction the gingerbread houses. We will also have prizes and a bake sale. Proceeds will benefit the St George Children's Museum. If you are interested in having a vendor booth, please contact the Downtown Farmers' Market
