Participating Business Spotlight: Waffle Love

This is the first year that Waffle Love will participate in the St George Gingerbread House Parade. They will create their own gingerbread house for the display. Come in and vote for it between Monday, November 30th - Saturday December 12th. 

And, don't forget to order yourself a yummy waffle while you're there. I will recommend my favorite now and it is the grilled cheese sandwich - yes it's made in the waffle and it's delicious! And the grilled cheese comes with a side of tomato bisque and it's the best tomato soup you ever had - in my humble opinion. 

Then if you have any room left for a sweet treat, I recommend the Dulce de Liege waffle which is a cinnamon and sugar waffle topped with a "fried" ice cream and drizzled with dulce de leche caramel. 

You are going to thank me for it!

Otherwise you can try my husband's favorite waffle which is the Nutella Love with your choice of fruit - he usually picks some combination of strawberries, raspberries or banana. And it includes a generous helping of whipped cream!

Check out this new offering in the store - Apple Pie Dessert Waffle paired with vanilla bean ice cream. It was luscious!

2020 - Mary Shipley - Volunteer Baker Spotlight

 A few years ago I got my children involved with Girl Scouts which means, I got sucked into participating as well - but actually I love Girl Scouts - it's a great program and I have met so many wonderful women because of it. One, in particular is Mary Shipley. Mary is the Volunteer Support Specialist for Girl Scouts of Utah. Basically, that means she goes around and hosts events to teach people about Girl Scouts and find moms, aunts or anyone really that would be interested in starting a troop for their girls or nieces. They have  events at the local library and they sometimes put on fun learning age-appropriate activities for the girls. When this is your motto: we build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place - then it's easy to get involved! Mary heard that I was doing this gingerbread thing - so of course, she volunteered to help. Graduation: 4 years of Gingerbread Parade

  For the last four years I have organized the St George Gingerbread House Parade. And this year, I declare that I have graduated from it. Yippee! I will from here on out be supporting the Jubilee of Trees.  This year I plan to make one Christmas Wreath and one Gingerbread House for charity to raise funds for St George Regional Hospital. I totally get it that a lot of people think that the hospital doesn't need our charity because they got money and we lowly people don't. But, let's try to reason why it's good for the community. Because of the philanthropy of the community, it benefits us. The hospital can expand and bring needed services to the area keeping the costs down for us. So, what I am doing is shutting down the nonprofit status of St George Gingerbread House Parade and any remaining funds in the business account will be distributed to a nonprofit in the area as per the rules of the Articles of Inc
