2021 - Introducing my Community Partners

Do you like my generic picture to represent community?

This year, I am again teaming up with the St George Children's Museum to bring you the Gingerbread Parade. The Parade map begins at the Children's Museum and then heads north up Main Street, to the left on St George Blvd, then up to Sunset Blvd, Down Dixie Drive, veer over to 700 South Street, then back to Riverside Drive, head east just past Mall Drive, then turn back, go up Mall Drive and head back west on Red Cliffs Drive and then south as it turns into River Road, and then meander back over to St George Blvd. That's the Parade route in a nutshell. The map will be released very soon!

[You may visit the locations in any order]

All the participating businesses which host a Gingerbread Creation have donated to the Gingerbread Parade organization. I use the money to pay for advertising to boost social media posts and get the word out to everyone that this is happening.  And I save a good chunk of the donations to raise funds for the Children's Museum. Last year, we donated $1,000 to the museum and hope to have enough left over for the same amount if not more.

So, this fun hometown event begins together with the Kickoff to Christmas. The Kickoff to Christmas is an annual event that is put on by the radio station New Country 94.9 FM and the City of St George. It is always the Monday evening after Thanksgiving at Town Square. Santa Claus will be there to take photos with the kids. There are usually some performances from different groups. This year Legacy Elementary is coming out to sing. In the past, St George Races does a Santa Dash. This is not happening this year. However, the radio station is sponsoring an Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest and they have awesome prizes. You can pre-register to participate in that here.  They mayor will turn on the Town Square lights to Welcome Christmas here. City of St George will have free gingerbread man cookies and hot cocoa for the first 500 residents in line. Come down to the Kickoff to Christmas on Monday, November 29, 6:00-8:00 PM. The event flyer will have a Gingerbread Parade map printed on the back. This is the official start to the Gingerbread Parade.

Giving you two weeks to see all the Gingerbread Creations at host businesses during their hours of operation, then the Gingerbread Parade ends on Saturday, December 11, 1:00-4:00 PM at the Homemade for the Holidays Market at Atwood Innovation Plaza at DSU.

This is a celebration! I've hired Festival Sounds to come and play music, I've invited Desert Hills High School Choir, Dance, and Orchestra to come perform and this is where I partner with the
Downtown Farmers Market. And new this year, we are teaming up with the St George Area Chamber of Commerce's youth initiative Junior Entrepreneur Market. The market from them has changed names a few times. It was once called The St George Kids Market. It changed names to Youth Market and now it's called Junior Entrepreneur Market. So, don't be confused - they are all one and the same. The youth ages, 8-17 are invited to come and sell inside at the Atwood Innovation Plaza and they can sign up for that here.  And for those over 18 that would like to sign up to sell with the Downtown Farmers Market may sign up here.  The Downtown Farmers Market vendors will be set up, outside on the south lawn. Gingerbread Parade will be at a booth together with the Children's Museum giving out prizes to the first 50 that have collected a stamp from each participating business hosting a Gingerbread Creation. We will be outside on the South Lawn. Come find us!

***Something that is also in the works is a Christmas Quest or Gingerbread Hunt and that is still in the development phase but we hope to have all the kinks worked out and offer this fun and exciting new phone app for all ages to enjoy. As soon as everything is ironed out, I will release that information.***
